Services

Since being established in 2006, KKUS Ltd have provided high accuracy Pre/Post Construction Surveys for the utility industry. Relying on our wealth of experience in utility network design, we also provide a first class design service, giving least cost option solutions while maintaining safe working practices on site. Projects are taken from initial Site Investigation Planning stage, through detailed design to site completion with As-laid drawing submissions.

GPS/GNSS AS-Laid/Topographical Surveys
Using the latest equipment manufactured by Trimble, KKUS Ltd are trained in the operation and recording of FastMap Tablet, having invested in the Rover R8 equipment, which gives accuracies of between 1-3cm in the field. Predominantly used for large diameter strategic mains, where pipelines/cables are installed cross country. This equipment can also be used for Topographical as well as As-laid Surveys, where all features can be captured, such as differing ground levels, obstructions and all other surrounding third party utilities, which may have an impact on proposed routes and programming timescales.

Wheeled AS-Laid Surveys
If specified by the client, and as a cheaper alternative to GPS surveys, wheeled as-laid surveys capture all newly installed fittings with two perpendicular dimensions to fixed points such as building lines or fence lines. Lengths of the utility are recorded for all installation methods and differing ground types the utility is excavated through, such as carriageway type, footway types and unmade ground. This gives an accurate costing at final account stage. Utility depths, materials used, date of installations are all recorded along with any additional data as specified by the client.

Pre-Construction Utility Surveys
A vital part of forward planning for project schemes is the identification of third party utilities, risk assessments along with locating existing apparatus that may be buried, such as sluice valves, fire hydrants, stop taps and manholes. KKUS Ltd provide tracing equipment to search, locate and mark all utilities, along with the line of the exsting utility to be repaired/refurbished. KKUS Ltd are fully trained in the use of Cable Location and Avoidance equipment, as an aid to safe excavating. In conjuction with this, we use box locators/metal detectors to detect all buried fittings, digging out and exposing wherever possible.

Post Construction Snagging Reports
Our clients have found this service to be an excellent check for on-site workmanship, completion of all proposed works as well as a good aide to ensuring all costs are included at final account stage. KKUS provides weekly site audit checks on all streets/areas surveyed, providing a detailed log of any incomplete works, failing/faulty reinstatement, redundant iron work fittings left in-situ and also any discarded signage or barriers left on site. The latter has been an excellent check to combat local authority Section 74 fines once streets have been declared complete.

Pre-Construction Detailed Network Design
With over 20 years experience within the water industry, KKUS Ltd has provided detailed network design support to major clients within this sector. Taking projects from initial planning stages through to site completion and finalised drawings to update clients asset records. We are trained to provide upfront design solutions, incorporating cost effective practical designs with minimal disruption to the public. Risk Assessments and Health and Safety Plans can be undertaken to highlight potential hazards which may impact on the public and work force on site. We provide alternatives to ensure all works are carried out in the safest possible manner to minimise any potential hazards and dangers. Site Investigation Planning is an essential, important part of any potential project. KKUS Ltd can plan and evaluate the findings to incorporate into a practical, buildable solution. Detailed design involves the liaison with all affected third parties such as local authorities, traffic police, emergency services, bridge engineers and other utility services to ensure all are aware of the proposed works, extents and programming. This eliminates clashes in potential planning with third parties or proposed street sterilisation periods, which may affect construction programmes. Once the project becomes a working site, KKUS Ltd liaises closely with all site engineers and operatives to ensure the completed work is recorded accurately and submitted to the client as an as-laid/as-built drawing, so asset records can be updated and maintained correctly.

Data-Capture using Autocad/Traffic Management Layouts
KKUS Ltd has a dedicated hardworking team, relying on a wealth of experience providing drawings in AutoCAD format. All drawings are provided to scale and presented to a high standard, incorporating all clients specifications to demanding timescales. We also provide Traffic Management layout drawings for all proposed works. These drawings detail all signage, cones and barrier layouts and positions as requested in meetings between the contractor and local authorities.
